Since the programme was launched in 2004, there have been six complete rounds of funding. Applications have been from 36 of the 53 African countries (including island nations). |

Up to May 2008 and Round 8, 711 pre-proposals have been received and from these, 27 African Fellowships have been awarded to sicentists. They have an average age of 38 years and 25% were women. |
