Cape Town is the legislative capital of South Africa and has a population of 3.5 million. It is noted for its architectural heritage and has several well-known natural features, most notably Table mountain. The Cape Peninsula has a Mediteranean climate with well-defined seasons. The spring months are warm and October has an average minimum temperature of 11-21 °C (52-70 °F).
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in the historic heart of Cape Town's working harbour and is South Africa's most-visited destination. It is situated between Robben Island and Table Mountain. Prince Alfred, second son of Queen Victoria, began construction of the harbour in 1860. The V & A Waterfront development is a renewal project that incorporates much of the historic harbour infrastructure.
The Garden Court Eastern Boulevard Hotel, near the V&A waterfront, is the venue for both the accomodation and the AFP Workshop itself.
Cape Town has been selected in association with the Biannual Conference of the African Crop Science Society (ACSS), 28th September - 1st October.
